Getting Creative

Still no new pictures...sorry. But when I get them put on the computer, I may go a little crazy.

As most of you know, we now home. However, we are trying to stay home for at least another week to let Miller get stronger and because the flu is going around here and that is about the last thing we need right now! So, I have been having to get very creative with Ella to keep her from going stir crazy. We have played with lots of playdough, stickers, colored, worked puzzles, read books. Ella got a new "baby" doll that has a bottle, a nightgown like Miller and even wears a diaper. Ella has learned to feed and burp her baby and she tries to changer her diaper when I change Miller's diaper. Today it warmed up a little bit and we went outside to do something new. Ella got bored quickly bc I was holding Miller and could not play with her. So I came up with a new game that worked for a little while. Our backyard is all woods. Our driveway always has lots of sticks and nuts from the trees. Today Ella picked up the sticks in the driveway and put them in the woods for Daddy. She was very excited about it for about 5 minutes. Then I think she realized this is not really all that fun. But whatever works, even if just for a few minutes, has become my moto these past few days.

Thank You!

Thank you to all who prayed for Miller! It is so wonderful to be home with our entire family and a healthy baby and I know we are here because of your prayers! We have gotten so many sweet letters, phone calls, emails, food... And I could never thank you enough. It has been a sweet time for Murray and me to be loved on and feel the arms of the Lord wrap around us and heal our baby boy. The Lord protected Miller in getting him into the hospital so early and protecting him from getting seriously ill from this virus.

Going Home!!!

I have not talked to a doctor today, but Miller has been off of oxygen for 24 hours!!!! That means we get to go home today! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. We are finally going to be a family again, all under the same roof, sleeping in our own beds.

Third Time's a Charm

We are hoping this is true... Miller had to go back on oxygen again today at around 4:00. We are hoping that tomorrow he will be able to go all day. Besides his oxygen level he is doing great. You would not know that he was sick. I feel like I am just getting to know him because he was asleep for the first two weeks of his life. He is definitely getting a little opinion and lets us know what he thinks!

One More Try

Well, yesterday was a great day. Miller did so good and went withough oxygen for about 10 hours. About 2;30 he had to go back on and needed it for the rest of the night. We took him off again this morning and he has done great all day. The afternoon and evening are the rough times for him, but we are hoping and praying that he will make it through today without oxygen. Right now his levels are great! Hopefully we will be going home in the morning. I will keep everyone updated.

Great News!

In the wee hours of the morning Miller's nurse, Amy (who is awesome!), turned Miller's oxygen off and he has not needed it since!!!!! His oxygen saturation levels have actually been great! We took the oxygen tubes out of his nose and he just seems so much more comfortable. The doctor just came in and listened to his chest and said he sounded like a different baby! This is such great news! Hopefully our family will be together again soon! This afternoon will be the big test. The afternoon is usually when Miller needs just a little bit more help. Even if he has to go back on oxygen, at least the end is in sight! Good job Baby Miller!!!!

Still Waiting...

Well we are still in the hospital. Miller just seems to really like getting extra oxygen. The doctors say we still just have to wait. So we are waiting.

The first week we were here all Miller did was sleep and eat (sometimes while still asleep). He has started to stay awake more in the past two days and I feel like I am just getting to know him. A few things I have learned about Miller after spending all day with him in a hospital room...

1. Miller loves to be sung to. Even if he is alseep, his face lights up.
2. Miller is extremely expressive! I just watch him and laugh at all the different faces he makes in just a few minutes.
3. Miller snorts (yes, like a pig) when he gets really hungry. Now, this could be due to the fact that he has tubes in his nose, but it is hilarious! He really started snorting yesterday. Needless to say, he is not having any problems eating.
4. Miller's favorite way to be held is resting against my chest. He usually falls asleep within a few minutes.
5. Miller is still a great sleeper at night! We have had a few rough nights, but I think that was more to the albuterol in his breathing treatments. I am hoping that his sleeping stays great at night as he continues to get better and wake up more.
6. Miller hates to have a dirty diaper! And he dirties his diaper all the time!
7. Miller is very smart; it only took about a day to figure out how to get the tubes out of his nose.

This is just some of Miller's little personality that is starting to come out.
